This brief is the executive summary of the Capitalisation of Experience (Capex) study, which draws lessons learned from over 10 years of MRLG\u2019s policy and practice engagement in the Mekong region. The project has employed multistakeholder approaches, supported alliances of reform actors and used evidence-based analysis to inform policymaking while adapting to the political economy at both national and regional levels. The report distils lessons from five interlinked strategies that defined MRLG\u2019s work\u00a0: working with alliances for policy influence\u00a0; constructive government engagement\u00a0; evidence-informed advocacy\u00a0; taking a regional approach\u00a0; and institutionalising adaptive programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mekong Region Land Governance Project (MRLG), active from 2014 to 2025, aimed to strengthen land tenure security in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam through a politically informed, adaptive approach. Key findings reveal that MRLG\u2019s success lay in building multistakeholder alliances, fostering constructive government engagement, and using evidence-based advocacy to influence policy. The project advanced normative change and policy reforms\u2014such as contributing to Viet Nam\u2019s 2024 Land Law\u2014by positioning research within strategic alliances and aligning messages with national development goals.
