The Land Law 2024 in Vietnam addresses the limitations of the previous Land Law 2013, aiming to modernize land management and promote fairness and transparency in land transactions. This law opens up opportunities for small-scale farmers by allowing the consolidation of agricultural land for larger-scale production, as well as permitting multi-purpose land use that combines agriculture with processing and services. Additionally, it expands the recognition of land use rights for those lacking formal documentation, enhancing the law’s inclusivity for marginalized groups. While these changes present significant opportunities for small-scale farmers, they also come with challenges that need careful consideration to fully realize the potential of these new provisions.
