MRLG support to customary tenure recognition in protected areas in Cambodia and through the drafting of the Environmental and Natural Resource Code

This video describes the consequences of the government increase of protected areas (PAs) by the government in 2016 and the role played by MRLG in supporting the recognition of customary tenure within the PAs. Firstly, MRLG in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment has supported the efforts of the Wildlife Conservation Society for mapping customary land use inside the Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary together with the local communities for the zoning of the PA. A second initiative has been the advocacy for the recognition of customary land us rights and co-management of PAs within the new draft Environmental and Natural Resource Code with the Vishnu Law Group.
