Large-scale agricultural investments, mainly in the form of land concessions, have not fulfilled their promises and have created problems for communities, investors and government authorities. This report discusses the future of agricultural investment in the Mekong region, particularly Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. It draws on lessons exchanged at a regional workshop on Responsible Large-Scale Agricultural Investment held in Vientiane on 15- 17 November 2017, which brought together 130 participants from government, the private sector, civil society, research institutions and international organisations, mostly from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, China, and the Philippines.
